Are the numbers different fonts? A little. Do I care? No. Why? Because I am about to engage in an Epic Math Adventure the likes of which can't be achieved by your average hexagonal die!Let's say I've been practicing two-digit addition and I have some D&D dice. I'm glad for the D-20's, but I'm getting real sick of adding six dice up to get something measly like 12. When the dice start at 1, that's a possibility!Let's also say that I've been practicing multiples up to 25x25, and I'm trying to get some mental muscle memory happening. The best I can do is take my standard die and my D-20 die and add them to multiply by another set of the same. Which is great for step-work, but not great for lightning-fast, game-style rendition of products of digits between 1 and 25. And on that note, it's a bit too break-neck for me; in one instant, multiplying 1 by 24 and the next, 23 by 26 (since a standard and a D-20 allow for that kind of debauchery)!What I'm really trying to say is, it is a merciful and gratuitous gesture to design a die that does not start at 1. It opens us up to a braver, yet kinder world of mental mathematics not accessible to many of us previously. As jittery as I was opening the package, I find a great deal of peace actually using the product in my little dice-tumbler for all sorts of practice in arithmetic.Thank you, Koplow Games, I will be buying from you again.
