I almost returned this jacket once I got it because it is pretty thin for an $80+ jacket, but I was about to go camping and needed a rain jacket so I kept it. This turned out to be the best decision I'd made in a while. The jacket isn't super warm, but this ended up being a plus because I can wear a sweater/flannel underneath. The hood is on point. It hangs down behind you perfectly centered if it's off, so it never pulls your collar to one side. It's big enough to keep your face completely dry, but it never drapes down in front of you because there is some kind of soft but firm frame type stuff that hold the hood out in front of your forehead, kind of like this https://www.showerspass.com/sites/showerspass.com/files/images/products/Rain-Hood.jpg except not stupid looking. This is essentially my uniform, I actually forgot that I even owned another jacket until I happened to see it hanging in the back of my closet. The wait has adjustable nylon bands that allow you to make it form fitting, but it somehow manages to do this without looking dorky like most adjustable waists do. I'm extremely thin for my height (5'8"ish, about a 26-27" waist) and this fits perfectly around my waist if I pull the string about as far as it will go, but it looks like the jacket would accommodate a normal sized or plus sized person if adjusted more loosely. The velcro straps on the wrists allow them to be very tight or very loose, so you can fit thick gloves in the ends of your sleeves then pull the velcro tight to hold them there. The side zippers so far have proved to be completely useless but it will be useful when I wear a backpack that fastens around my stomach, which I do on occasion. There's even a cool little thingy in the back of the inside, just below the hood, to hang the coat up without resting hooking the hood over the rack which is generally bad for hoods. The material is thin but warmer than you'd expect, and seems way more durable than it appears. I got it covered in mud once and it all washed off in the sink in about 4 seconds and was ready to wear again right away. The pockets are a good size. All the zippers are sturdy.Seriously the best jacket I have ever seen. This is a great functional jacket without too many pockets, zippers, cords or straps hanging all over the place. It is a clean and technically well designed jacket. The men's medium fit my lean 6'-0" 165lb frame perfectly. You can wear a well fitted light fleece beneath and a fitted shirt without problems. For winter use with heavy fleece insulation I recommend a size up. This jacket is perfect for 3 season use which is what I bought it for. The pockets have a mesh interior for excellent venting while the side zippers zip open all the way from the hem to pit. You can also zip the side from pit to him for pit ventilation only. I love the fact that you can zip the hem all the way open so if I'm carrying a tackle belt, knife, side arm or other belt accessory I can easily get to it. None of the zippers are silicone water sealed but they are covered over with a fabric flap. The zippers are nylon and easily open and not corrode in salt water. The jacket is extremely light weight and can easily pack down to the size of a soda can. The hood fits nice and the wire brim is a welcome feature. Some reviewers have commented that the fabric is not very breathable, I have not experienced this issue with this jacket but I would say that it's not as breathable as my Goretex Pro or Goretex Paclite jackets although those cost 2-3 times more. The side zips, pocket zips and main zipper should be able to compensate for any venting needs. The fabric itself is very robust and would appear to be highly abrasion resistant.Relative to the price this is a great jacket.New, this jacket is waterproof as far as I can tell. Hiking I tend to sweat so it can get wet on the inside but it does not seem due to rain. Just does not breath enough for me. Even Goretex doesn't.This jacket fits relatively thin (I am 6' 220 lbs so take that as relative). I will sometimes wear a light rain jacket for shorter hikes in the snow with a liner. On me, this one will only fit the lightest of liners. Good for summer but not winter. That said it is not baggy. I appreciate the narrower fit hiking in the summer. Here in Alaska I am not sure this would be my choice for a multi-day, daily down poor hike. On the other hand, I would certainly take it for a 20 hour day hike. It is light but does not seem all that durable. Perfect for me and what I do most. This jacket is of very high quality. I’m 6’2” and 210-lbs and the XL side fit perfectly through the chest, arms, and hood. However, I’m long waisted so the length was about 3-inches too short and the bottom of the jacket was around the top of my belt. This would allow rain to soak down my belt line, and any layering under the jacket stuck out by about 3-inches. So I sent it back - that was a very easy process and I’m satisfied with the entire purchase/return process. I could not find this product in ‘tall’ and if I could, I’d have exchanged this for a tall version in a heart beat!Like the light weight of this jacket, but without a liner, it seems cold and or clammy without a long sleeve shirt. Also, this jacket is cut very slim. I normally wear an XL, but I should have gotten a XXL. The side zippers helps with that issue.Good compliment to the Men's filament down jacket. Recent blizzard in New York put them to the test. The combo was fantastic. It does not transfer the inside moisture as well as expected and therefore the condensation did build up. However when I vented the side zippers the problem was solved. Good price, well made. Quality itemReally comfortable jacket. I perfer my jackets a bit long and this one was a bit shorter then expect but still fits. Extremely water proof, not the warmest, but that is not what this jacket is made for. Velcro and zipper are nice and sturdy and the all black is a nice lookThis jacket fits well, is lightweight and a good value. I took out one star because even with the side flaps open , there is poor ventilation. I put this jacket on when it started raining while I was hiking on a backpacking trip, and I started sweating immediately. It's a good rain jacket for most purposes, but not ideal if you plan on being in it.
