The unique PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Down Blend of the Diode Hooded Jacket packs the best attributes of each material into one weather-resistant and highly compressible insulation. Perfect for preserving warmth in cold, damp environments where pure down could wet out, the body of the Diode is stuffed with a 70% DWR-treated down/30% PrimaLoft blend of insulation that traps heat in the nastiest conditions. In areas most exposed to the weather - the shoulders, hood and waist - the Diode uses 100% PrimaLoft Gold insulation, further protecting from the elements. More than a belay parka, the ingenious Diode Hooded Jacket provides functional, water-resistant warmth in variable conditions.
I read a few reviews on this jacket prior to purchasing and some of them indicated that the jacket was not as warm as advertised. After owning this for a few months, I can say that it is exactly as warm as I was hoping for. I have been out in this in temps in the teens with a shell and have been plenty warm. On it's own, I would rate it in the 20s comfortably. The fit of this jacket for me is also perfect. The cut I would say is towards the slim side especially around the waste. This is a good thing since "puffy" jackets tend to look terrible when not properly fit. I ordered in my standard medium size and it looks great all over. In other down jackets including another one from OR, I typically have to order a small in order to get a decent fit which is sometimes a little too small. The build quality and materials for this jacket are also great with little to no down protrusion to speak of. The only very minor quibble if I had to pick one would be the fleece lining in the pocket is only on one side. Lining the entire pocket with fleece would have been heaven on my hands but taking into consideration that many in this category have no fleece lining at all, I am thrilled with it.As others have noted, it has a slimmer fit, but its slight form-factor makes it perfect for layering over (soft/hard shell, etc.). On the other hand, I'm 6', 185lbs. and the medium fits me perfectly. I'm a bit soft in the midsection, so the fill compresses a little when I pack layers beneath it, but there is no pulling of the fabric/stitching. Still, if you plan to layer a lot, or are a between-sizer, the large would still fit slimmer than most medium puffers. I noticed cold spots when I first put it on in 35 degree weather, but I do not notice any now, after regular wearing. I suspect that giving it a good shake upon purchase would help eliminate any threat of cold spots. Also, the gusseting and longer arms help reduce lifting and exposure around belly or wrists. All that said, it's an amazing jacket: comfy, warm, more durable than the average pure pertex quantum, light, packable, great attention to detail (love the wrist closures -- hook-and-loop as well as elastic), hand warmer pockets. Love it. Oh, and it's stylish/flattering.This jacket is extremely warm. Great pockets, great hood, nice ability to tighten cuffs and waist. This jacket is VERY form fitting. Fits like it is 1 size smaller in the chest and waist area. I am 5'11 and 185 and the large is snug. Large is typically a little baggy for me in most brands. I like the fit, but I can see others who don't want it hugging them not liking it. Much warmer than my other down jackets (marmot, REI, etc.).I haven't had the opportunity to test how this jacket works in cold weather, but I can attest to it feeling comfortable and having a wonderful fit. The problem I encounter with most XL jackets is that they tend to have a billowing amount of fabric in the waistline that makes you look HUGE (I'm 6'3" 225lbs so I don't need any help looking like a kind of chubby dude). This jacket is somewhat fitted and so it provides a slight form-fit feel that eliminates the billowing without feeling tight or restrictive. Absolutely love it and am going to have a hard time waiting for the cold weather time of year again so that I can really put it through the paces.I was so excited about this jacket but when it arrived.. well im 5.5 foot and on me was looking like im a homeless. The sleeves are made for an urangutan they are pretty wide also. From the pictures I was imagining it slim fit.. But for some tall well built guy maybe will fit good. The quality of the product seems good, I was never wearing it so I don’t know how good it is outside..Best jacket Ive ever bought! I love this because of the cut. Tailoring is all about the cut. I have broad shoulders and a small(er) stomach and waist and this is tailored for my build! So hard to find this kind of product. Usually Larges sizes have soooo much extra gut fabric it billows out all the warmth. this hugs me tighter. I never want to take it offThis jacket may fit a swimmer quite well. It is small in the waist yet broad at the shoulders. It was uncomfortable for my husband when zipped so it was returned.this is my first OR jacket. Good on relatively cold days (single to teens), lightweight, and fits well.Esta chamarra llegó en una bolsa rota, dónde no cabía, además tiene manchas pegajosas como de caramelo
