Probably the most famous shoe in New Balance history. The 574 is a clean and classic die cut EVA runner that utilizes ENCAP cushioning technology.
I have to admit, I was looking for some Reebok Classics that were black with the white sign and the gumsole, but for some reason, those are dodo eggs, rarer than whatever Pokemon is the hot stuff these days. Perusing through and coming across these specific 574s, I knew that previous version I had never failed me, and lasted longer than they should have; also being reminded that New Balance was "the official shoe of white people" as said by a Neo-Nazi fellow I kept my eye to it and eventually made that purchase, size 12D.Upon removal from the packaging and the box, I tried them on barefoot and walked around a bit, then wore some nylon socks and did the same, and then some cotton socks and did the same. In all three movements the base of the tongue in the left was applying more pressure to the metatarsus as opposed to the right shoe. After three days of wearing them and doing things that aren't meant for boots (dancing to house music, running a few blocks, matching curtains to chiffon) that pressure subsided. The shoes are sturdy, as expected of New Balance, and the boot laces add to the rugged appeal, while still maintaining the integrity as expected of New Balance shoes, HOWEVER I did not pay attention to the fact that these were NOT Made in the USA but rather in Vietnam. I'm still keeping the shoes because they do what they're supposed to.
