Wow. This is a great table tennis racket at a reasonable price. Very good rubber that actually starts out quite sticky, almost like adhesive. That sticky layer wears off pretty quickly but the rubber remains very grippy. The sponge underneath the rubber provides some additional control. I did notice that the thickness of the sponge layer has quite of bit of variation as can be seen in the pictures. Both the red sponge and the blue sponge exhibit this issue and this could definitely affect gameplay. For the average player it will go unnoticed. I'm not docking a star because this is an inexpensive paddle. If I found this type of issue on a $50+ paddle, the base star rating would drop down to three stars at most and then I'd go from there. This Pro Spin paddle is ideal for beginners and recreational players, and is the type that you stock up on and give to young kids and their friends (since it's always the FRIENDS you have to worry about!) to have fun, without YOU having to worry about expensive paddles getting destroyed. ;) I'm a pretty good player and I like this paddle. I was just holding this paddle and a $62 paddle in my hands, and I can tell you that it's getting increasingly difficult to justify the more expensive rackets. The Pro Spin racket has the sponge variation issue, and the Pro Spin is ever so slightly smaller in surface area and about 1/4" shorter overall than the $62 racket, but aside from that they're really similar.
